はじめまして。神話の宿る島、スカイ島で手作りされているIsle of Skye Candle Companyの製品を、日本でご紹介しているDUOLOGY株式会社のShokoと申します。
Isle of Skye Candleとの出会いは、コロナ禍の最中でした。海外への渡航や外出が制限されるなか、日常の空間に“ときめき”と“非日常”をもたらしてくれるアロマ製品と出会い、深く心を動かされたのを今でも覚えています。
とりわけ、英国に戻ることが叶わなかったある時、Skyeの香りに触れた瞬間、まさに「英国らしさ」が詰まった温もりと、作り手の誠実なものづくりの精神に心惹かれました。そしてこの香りを、日本の皆さまにもお届けしたいと強く願うようになりました。
私たちDUOLOGYは、英国の本当に良いものを厳選してご紹介すること、そして英国と日本、さらにはアジアをつなぐ架け橋となることをミッションに掲げ、日々活動しています。ありがたいことに、英国大使館やスコットランド政府をはじめ、多くの方々にご支援をいただきながら、Skyeのアロマ製品も少しずつ日本各地へと広がっています。

My name is Shoko, and I represent DUOLOGY Co. Ltd., the company introducing the handcrafted products of the Isle of Skye Candle Company to Japan. These beautiful candles and diffusers are made on the Isle of Skye – a place rich in myth, nature, and quiet strength.
I first encountered the brand during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when travel abroad was impossible and daily life felt confined, I came across these fragrance products that brought a sense of wonder and escape into my everyday space.
In particular, during a period when I was unable to return to the UK, the scent of Skye offered me a profound sense of warmth and connection. I was deeply drawn to the sincerity of the craftsmanship and the unmistakably British character of the fragrances. It was then that I felt a strong wish to share this experience with people in Japan.
At DUOLOGY, our mission is to carefully curate and introduce truly exceptional British products, while fostering meaningful cultural and commercial bridges between the UK, Japan, and the wider Asia region. With generous support from the British Embassy in Tokyo and the Scottish Government, we have been honoured to help bring Skye’s scents into homes and shops across Japan.
In the midst of busy modern life, I hope these candles and diffusers offer you gentle moments of calm and comfort – and perhaps even a quiet story of their own.

ケンブリッジのウルフ・インスティテュートにて、ローワン・ウィリアムズ元英国国教会大主教と共に
イギリス、特にウルフ・インスティテュートでの学びは、単なる学術的な知見にとどまらず、「異なる背景との対話」そのものの価値を私に教えてくれました。ユダヤ教・キリスト教・イスラム教の思想に深く触れる中で、文化や信仰が異なっても、相互理解と尊重は必ず築けるという確信を得ました。この哲学は、DUOLOGYの根幹にも息づいています。私たちは、信頼は意味のある文化的なつながりの中で育まれるものだと信じています。
Studying in the UK—particularly at the Woolf Institute—offered more than academic insight. It taught me the profound value of dialogue across difference. Engaging deeply with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam shaped my belief that mutual understanding across cultures and traditions is not only possible, but essential. This philosophy continues to guide DUOLOGY’s work: building trust through meaningful cultural connection.

この記念すべき場で得たのは、知的な寛容さ、対話の品格、そして倫理的なリーダーシップの重要性でした。英国の優れた学者やビジネスリーダーの方々と対話を重ねる中で、「DUOLOGYは単なる商社ではなく、文化をキュレーションする存在でありたい」という私のビジョンが形づくられていきました。価値ある英国の物語や製品を、思いやりと誠実さをもってアジアへ届ける——それが私たちの使命です。
This extraordinary occasion reaffirmed for me the importance of intellectual generosity, diplomacy, and ethical leadership. Encounters such as this inspired my vision for DUOLOGY—not merely as a trading company, but as a cultural curator committed to introducing truly worthwhile British stories and products to Asia with care and integrity.

国連での業務を通じて、公共の利益と国際協調への強い責任感を改めて実感しました。グローバル・ガバナンスに関する国際的な対話に携わる中で、ビジネスもまた公共性を伴うべきものだという信念が確かなものとなりました。DUOLOGYでは、扱うすべての製品が「透明性・持続可能性・社会的意義」を備えていることを大切にしています。
Working at the United Nations deepened my commitment to the public good and global cooperation. Supporting international dialogue on global governance alongside diverse actors reinforced my conviction that business must be rooted in responsibility. At DUOLOGY, this translates into our mission to ensure that every product we introduce reflects values of transparency, sustainability, and social contribution.
